It’s important for me to acknowledge those who assisted me in the creation of this guide, as well as those who led to the creation of this guide. Over the last three decades I’ve learned a lot supporting various archers in the sport, and having become an official at national level.
Key amongst these is my daughter, Liezel-Marie, a young archer with a lot of talent, a strong work ethic, and a beautiful personality. It’s through her that I found myself wanting to learn to support her in becoming the best archer she can be over the last decade or so.
And then there’s a friend and mentor to us both, Matt, who assisted in as what can best be described as a “technical advisor and endless pit of knowledge”. Matt was also the person who sold Liezel her first two compound bows, and now is her training partner.
And then there’s so many more people who shaped our journey, like Scott, Liezel’s first coach and longtime mentor and supporter, from when she was about eight. He was the person who got her going and got her hooked on the sport. She shot her first archery World Cup in Korea at the same tournament where Scott shot his last when he retired.

And there was a lot of learning through doing, and sometimes getting it wrong, and sometimes getting it right.
