Install the rest and blade or drop-way rest.
The horizontal position should be such that the centre of the arrow, which aligns with the centre of the blade, should be an equal distance front to back from the riser. This is typically between 22.2mm (7/8”) and 20.64mm (13/16”). It is critical for the arrow and the riser to run as perfectly as possible to parallel to one another.
The vertical position should be such that the centre of the arrow aligns with the centre of the Berger hole and is perfectly perpendicular to the string. It should be noted that different diameter arrows mean a small variation in the height of the rest in relation to the nock position.
More advanced archers may raise the nock slightly on the string to compensate for a slight nock high travel as witnessed when shot through paper. This is to ensure the arrow clears the rest successfully on launch and reduce the risk of bouncing off the launcher blade.
When installing a blade rest, the typical blade angle should be between 30 and 35 degrees. Take care not to overdo it either way.
